Digital Equity Planning for the State of New Hampshire

Project summary

The University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension (UNHCE) was awarded $511,216 by the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs to lead the development of New Hampshire’s Digital Equity Plan. The effort is in partnership with the National Collaborative for Digital Equity (NCDE) and the Digital Equity Research Center (DERC) at the Metropolitan New York Library Council.

Both NCDE and the Digital Equity Research Center have strong reputations for their national-level work around digital equity and UNHCE was integrally involved with the Development of New Hampshire’s Broadband Plan a decade ago under the NTIA’s Broadband Technology Opportunities Program.

Activities

The Digital Equity Research Center created a statewide asset inventory that was used to develop a prototype dashboard to help residents connect with digital equity resources.

We developed and distributed a survey to more than 3,500 residents in partnership with the UNH Survey Center. Our analysis of the results was included in the state’s Digital Equity Plan.

Consultant Chris Ritzo, Anemophilous Futures, LLC supported data analysis and GIS on the project.
