Digital Equity Research Center Welcomes New Advisory Board Members

This fall the Digital Equity Research Center welcomes five new individuals to its advisory board: Dr. Christopher Ali, Dr. Jin Hyun Bae, Dr. Revati Prasad, Amy Sample Ward, and Dr. Fallon S. Wilson.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome these five extraordinary leaders in the digital equity field,” said Dr. Colin Rhinesmith, Founder and Director of the Digital Equity Research Center. “We look forward to learning more from them about how we can utilize their deep experience and knowledge at the intersection of digital equity research, policy, and practice to advance our Center’s work.”

The group convenes regularly to provide guidance to staff regarding the Center’s strategic directions and ongoing work. Their expertise stretches across research and practice in our three areas of focus: meaningful broadband adoption, public libraries & digital equity, and digital equity ecosystems. The newcomers will join Dr. Matthew Bui of the University of Michigan, Munirih Santiago Jester, and Nate Hill, Executive Director of METRO, who have served since 2022.

Hill welcomed the new group members as well, saying “METRO’s programs serve a diverse audience of library workers, public interest technologists, researchers, and organizational leaders. Our program advisory boards keep our work aligned with their needs and steer our programs so that they are impactful. The Digital Equity Research Center’s advisory board is an exceptional group of digital equity leaders and practitioners, and we are grateful for their service.”

The Center was established in 2022 to provide in-depth, high quality research and analysis to inform digital equity practitioners, policymakers, and philanthropic communities in New York City, Westchester County, and beyond.
